Kotak Mahindra Bank statement to Excel
Kotak offers statements through its mobile app, Net Banking, WhatsApp and a no-login website form, and most of them arrive by email. Here's how to request each, what to do about the password, and how to turn the PDF into a spreadsheet that reconciles.
How to get a Kotak bank statement
Kotak Mobile Banking app (Kotak):
- Log in with your CRN (Customer Relationship Number) and MPIN.
- Go to the Statement section.
- Tap Consolidated Statement.
- Choose the month and tap View.
- Review and download.
Kotak's savings account FAQ also gives an app path that requests a statement by email or post: Banking > Account Statement, then choose the duration and mode (Kotak).
Net Banking: Banking > Service Request > New Service Request > Account Statement, then choose the duration and mode (Email or Post) (Kotak).
WhatsApp: register through kotak.com/wa from your phone's browser (or a missed call to 9718566655 from your registered mobile), then type STMT and the last 4 digits of your account number (Kotak).
Website (no login): Kotak's e-statement page authenticates you with your registered mobile number or CRN and an OTP, then lets you pick an account and date range and sends the e-statement to your registered email (Kotak).
Timing: Kotak says email statements are sent the same working day as the request; physical statements take up to 7 working days.
Your CRN is printed on your Kotak debit card and in your welcome kit, or you can SMS "CRN" to +91 9971056767 from your registered mobile (Kotak).
What about the password?
Kotak sends statements encrypted (its credit card e-statement terms say statements are sent "with encryption to ensure security", and ask you not to share the password (Kotak)). Kotak doesn't publish the savings-statement password format on the pages we checked, so use the instructions in the email that delivered the statement. If you're converting a client's statement, ask them for it over a separate channel. Our password guide covers opening and unlocking safely.
Common pitfalls converting Kotak statements
- Consolidated statements. The app's "Consolidated Statement" can cover more than one account. Split by account and reconcile each one against its own opening and closing balance.
- Long UPI/NEFT narrations that wrap across lines; merge continuation lines into the transaction above.
- Indian digit grouping (
1,23,456.78) and day-first dates; convert before totalling or importing. - Balances with Cr/Dr markers, if present, must become signed numbers before you check running balances.
- Summary blocks (totals, counts, account details) aren't transactions.
The check: for each account, opening balance + credits − debits = closing balance; and on every row, previous balance + credit − debit = printed balance.
Converting a Kotak statement with Footed
Footed opens the PDF in your browser and asks for the password there; neither the file nor the password is uploaded. Only the extracted text is sent for parsing, processed in memory and not stored. Footed's AI parsing doesn't need a Kotak-specific template, and every conversion is reconciled against the statement's balances with mismatched rows highlighted. Download Excel, CSV or OFX.
